    What is dry needling?

Dry needling is a specialized technique in which thin needles are inserted directly into muscles, without the use of any liquid. It differs from acupuncture in that it targets trigger points. These are knots in the muscles that often cause pain, tension and restriction of movement. Dry needling specifically targets the muscles and nervous system and aims to deactivate these trigger points.

    How does dry needling work?

In dry needling, the physiotherapist first locates the trigger points in your muscles through a thorough physical examination. Once identified, thin needles are carefully inserted into the affected muscles. This causes a reflex relaxation of the muscle, reducing pain and tension.

    Why is this effective?

Dry needling is an effective treatment for several reasons:

Targeted pain relief: By focusing on the cause of your pain, the trigger points, dry needling offers immediate relief.
Improved mobility: By reducing muscle tension, dry needling improves your mobility, allowing you to recover faster and resume your daily activities.
Fast results: People often experience reductions in pain and symptoms after just a few sessions.
Safety: Dry needling is performed by skilled physiotherapists and is safe with minimal side effects.

Whether you suffer from back pain, neck pain, headaches, or other muscle-related complaints, dry needling can be a valuable addition to your physiotherapy treatment. Our expert physiotherapists are ready to help you reduce your pain and improve your quality of life.
